 Study Lines

Picture
There are three types of study lines at Seaview High School:

Supervised Study for Year 7-10 Students

Any student in Years 7 to 10 who has been allocated a study line will have a "Supervised Study".
  • Students must report to PB15 on the Pitman 3rd Floor and check in with the teacher on duty.
  • Students must study quietly at one of the allocated tables
  • Students are not allowed to leave the study room to go to other areas (except for bathroom breaks)

Study Lines for students in Years 7-10 can only be approved in exceptional circumstances by one of the school counsellors or the Deputy Principal.

Attendance at Supervised Study lessons is compulsory.

Home Study (Year 11 Students)

Year 11 students who have demonstrated the ability to meet deadlines and manage their learning effectively can be granted "Home Study" in Semester 2.

All Year 11 "Home Study" students are allocated Monday Lessons 1 and 2, and Wednesday Lessons 5 & 6 as "Home Study".

They can choose to either:
  • Come in by 10:50am on Monday, and leave at 12:45pm on Wednesday (they do not need to sign in or out at Student Services if they choose this option)
  • Come in early on Monday morning (they must sign in at Student Services when they arrive) and they may choose to stay Wednesday after lunch (they must go to student services and record that they are staying at school).
    • If a student choose to stay on a Wednesday afternoon, they MUST stay until 3:10pm (they cannot leave early)

Supervised Study (Year 11 and 12 Students)

Any Year 11 student with "Supervised Study" Monday Lesson 1 and 2 and Wednesday 5 & 6, or any Year 12 student with "Supervised Study" must attend their supervised study lesson in PB15 and report to the teacher on duty. They must stay in the supervised study room for the duration of their double lesson.

Attendance at "Supervised Study" is compulsory. Students are not allowed to sign in late or out early.

Student with Home Study & Supervised Study
This student follows all the same rules for signing in and out as detailed above for "Home Study".

Their supervised study lesson is not on Monday 1 & 2 or Wednesday 5 & 6, so they must report to the teacher in PB15 for their study line. They are NOT allowed to leave early on Tuesday --> they must stay in the study room until 3:10pm as normal.

Private Study (Year 12 Students Only)

Year 12 students who have demonstrated the ability to meet deadlines and manage their learning effectively can be granted "Home Study".

Home Study students can choose to work on their assignments in any suitable area of the school, providing it does not interfere with the learning of other classes. Suitable areas include:
  • Learning Hub
  • Center area of the third floor
  • Classroom with a teacher (such as the Art Room)
  • Outside at a table or bench space

There are also instances where students may choose to study offsite for their private study:
  • If a student has "Private Study" for Lessons 1 and 2 (and no before school lessons), they may choose to come to school at recess time.
    • Students must sign in at student services upon arrival to school.
  • If a student has "Private Study for Lessons 5 and 6 (and no after school lessons), they may choose to leave at the start of lunch.
    • Students must sign out at student services before leaving school grounds.

For Monday Lesson 5 and 6, you do NOT need to sign out at Student Services, however, if you choose to stay at school, you must sign in at Student Services.

No Year 12 student is allowed to arrive later than recess time, or depart earlier than lunchtime, for Home Study reasons.

All students MUST be present on site for their Private Study lessons in Lesson 3 and 4, no exceptions!

Home Study (Year 12 Students Only)

All Year 12 students will be allocated "Home Study" for a Wednesday morning and Friday afternoon. This means that all Year 12 students:
  • Must arrive at school by recess on a Wednesday
  • Can leave school grounds at lunch time on a Friday.

Year 12 students are NOT required to sign in or out at Student Services at these times.

Students who wish to either come early on a Wednesday, or stay after lunch on a Friday, must sign in at Student Services in case of an emergency.
